The Minnesota State Fair is known for hosting a number of craft beers (one year it even had a mini donut beer from Lift Bridge Brewing Co.), and this year will be even better thanks to the inclusion of brewpub beers at the Land of 10,000 Beers exhibit.
It’s a first for the fair, and a total of nearly 60 breweries and brewpubs will be featured, pouring around 200 different beers.

There will be six types of beer flights at the exhibit: Hoppier, Darker, Lighter, Belgian, Minnesota Mix, and Brewpub. Two “grab bag” flights will feature ever-changing beers, while Fridays will feature firkins, and limited-edition beers such as casks and barrel-aged styles will be available on the weekends.
While typical cash and credit card payments are accepted at the exhibit, flights can also be purchased in advance online. The Minnesota State Fair takes place August 27-September 7.
Our take: Two years ago we found the craft beer selection to be OK. This year sounds like the best yet (you can’t deny the appeal of buying tickets online to skip long lines), and we expect there to be a number of great beers on tap. When you’re done with your beer, pick up some cheese curds, fried cheesecake, and check out the fish at the DNR exhibit.
