Dark Horse Celebrates 30 Years of Bell’s Brewery With Sugar Beet Beer

Bell’s Brewery turned 30 this year, and to celebrate, Dark Horse Brewing Co. created a unique beer that is now on tap at its brewery located in Marshall.

30 Jars of Hearts Saison is a beer “made with sugar beets added to the mash, and finished with tart cherries, cranberries, raspberries, and hibiscus, while fermented with saison yeast.”

It’s definitely red in color like the brewery goes on to explain, and it also contains hints of fruit melding with aromas of floral and spice.

On a final note, Dark Horse said “cheers to Bell’s and for all that they have done for the Michigan craft beer industry!” They added: “Cheers to all of you for supporting Michigan craft beer!”

Our take: Dark Horse has been a favorite brewery of Wismin’s since we first tried its blueberry stout, and all of its offerings at the first Northern Lights Rare Beer Fest. This sounds like another winning brew from the Michigan brewery. Skol to Dark Horse, and congratulations to Bell’s on 30 years.
