Boom Island Brewing Co. has announced the first beer in its Spontaneous Series, Oude Funk.
The new beer, to be released at the taproom on October 2 and in select liquor stores the week of October 5, is described as “slightly tart and acidic.”
Boom Island adds that it has “a light effervescent body and indescribable complexity. This 4.8% ABV Belgian-style confection is dry, sour, and yes, funky.”
The brewery said it will have more updates and information soon, but you can check out the Facebook event page here.
Our take: We’ve been to Boom Island once. Nestled down the road from Game Informer headquarters, and hidden in an alley, the space is cozy and inviting. We were there for the Gravity No. 9 release, a Belgian strong aged in tequila barrels and fermented with plum–super tasty. Cool side note: Fables comic creator and artist Bill Willingham drew the label for the beer, making it a unique event.
